Making a Murder...Mystery (No Spoilers!)

I am a horror fan. A ‘gore hound’ specifically. There are so many horror movies made each year that those are all I really watch anymore. Trying to ‘catch up’ when there isn’t remotely enough time left for me to even scratch the surface of what already exists. To help ease the sorrow that this realization has created, I have started writing murder mysteries for Evenchilada.

This has given me a power and a passion that I didn’t know I had. I can now murder one or more people per story in any way I choose. Without the ability to actually create my own horror films, this has given me the opportunity to flex a creative ability that I wasn’t sure I had. After that, I get to find ways to blame the murders on 5 or 6 innocent people! Which is great!

Writing is one thing but what about performing a Murder Mystery??

Then the stressful part; presentation to live players. Will it be stupid? Too easy? Too hard? Too savage? Was my delivery as a host good enough? Well, so far so good. It turned out that some are easier than others, and some bloodier than others. That provides more choices for organizers when deciding which scenario they want. We have harder, easier and medium difficulties to choose from, with gore levels to match.

What better way to bring your working from home team together than by putting together all the clues to figure out that Bree killed Esteban by pushing him on a running chainsaw, rending his legs from his torso and creating a bloody mess on the lawn. You were wise not to fall for my red herring groundskeeper who may have had a motive to murder Esteban but was far too stupid and had a decent alibi.*
