It’s the most wonderful time of the year again and that means it's time to start planning for the big holiday event of the year!
We wouldn’t be doing our job as event planners if we didn't inspire you with some great ideas to help you have the most unforgettable event. Check out our 7 tips below to help you in planning your holiday event this year:
1. Holiday-Themed Games Night
The first step in creating the event of the year is making the event holiday-themed. The best way to do that is to make all the games holiday-themed (or just one, the choice is yours). A selection of holiday mini-games will be sure to get everyone into the holiday spirit!
Examples of some holiday-themed games include:
- ‘Quizmas’ Trivia - Test everyone’s knowledge about the season!
- Jingle Bell Music Bingo - Tick off the holiday classics as soon as you hear them!
- Evenchilada’s Holiday Movie Mix (personal favourite!) - We watch them every year but how well do you remember the holiday movies?
2. Perfect Timing
When planning your holiday event it is important to pick the best date. This will differ across industries and companies, typically the week or two before the holidays tend to be a crazy time for many businesses and people preparing. Therefore we suggest scheduling your event for early December when the last-minute rush hasn’t set in yet so people can relax and enjoy the event.
3. Brownie Points for Holiday Attire
No matter which event you choose, it is important to have recognition for those who dress in holiday attire or the best festive virtual background…. Bonus points during games or spot prizes are always a great treat!
4. Prizes, Prizes, and more Prizes
If there will be a game as part of your holiday event, then it is super important to have some prizes for the winners! It’s a must! What you can offer as prizes will depend on your budget. Here at Evenchilada we created prize packages to help save you time in sourcing prizes, check them out here.
5. Gift Giving
I have said it before and I will say it again, who doesn’t like receiving gifts?? Gift baskets are a lovely addition to any event, examples include a snack gift basket for players to enjoy or some funky holiday attire to wear during the event. If your budget allows, send out a gift box to each colleague to open and enjoy during the event. Check out some ideas here.
6. Get Creative
Virtual workshops are always popular and super fun! Your team can have fun learning and experiencing new things. From painting masterpieces (which can also be given as gifts later on) to holiday drink workshops to magic trick workshops. Your team will be sure to enjoy a holiday-themed workshop which they can follow along with.
7. Team Spirit
For some, the holiday party is the one time of year, where the whole team comes together. To help colleagues reconnect with each other, we would recommend choosing a team-based event, for example, our Murder Mystery or Evenchilada Feud, where you can mix up those who don’t normally work together on a daily basis.
Holiday planning can be fun but it can also be stressful on top of your daily tasks so don’t be afraid to get a helping hand! Evenchilada is here to help so you can sit back and enjoy the event - we can help with putting the event together and ordering prizes!
